VE Day Celebrations

8th May 2025
P2/3 were thinking about a special time in history which happened eighty years ago today - Victory in Europe Day!
Reverend Seth's assembly explained what V.E. Day was and he gave us a little glimpse into what that time was like for people living in Donemana.  Some parishioners told him about using ration books and another explained how they could see the glow of Belfast burning during the Blitz!!
Our PowerPoint then talked us through the celebrations which happened at that time, from people waving flags and dancing in the streets to Spitfire flyovers.
In Art the children made Union Jacks to remember those celebrations and enjoyed a Spitfire investigation - trying to find what made their airplane fly better. (They discovered through trial and error that the plane needed something heavy at the nose to help with flight!)
P2/3 enjoyed their day, know a little bit more about our history and are looking forward to the V.E. Day celebrations later tonight in Donemana.
