Special Visitor (NIFRS)

Special Visitor (NIFRS)

Mr Potts’ class welcomed a special visitor from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) during term one.

Firefighter Mullen spoke to the class about fire safety in our homes.
We discussed things that catch fire easily, what we would do if there was a fire in our home, how to escape a fire safely as a family, what equipment a firefighter wears and what other special equipment they have to use as part of their job.

He reminded us of the importance of functioning smoke alarms in our homes and to check them on a weekly basis.

He even managed to rope in a volunteer to try on some of the special uniform. :)

We would like to say a sincere thanks to Firefighter Mullen and the NIFRS for the special visit and the wonderful activity pack that the class received.
