Special Visitor Inspires Budding Mechanics in Reception and P1

12th May 2026

We were delighted to welcome a very special visitor, Mr Orr, to our Reception and P1 class recently.

The children were fascinated to hear all about what it means to work as a mechanic, from fixing cars to understanding how different parts work together to keep vehicles moving.

Our visitor brought real-life experience into the classroom, showing tools, explaining their uses, and demonstrating how mechanics diagnose and repair problems. The session was full of excitement, with lots of thoughtful questions from the children and plenty of opportunities for hands-on learning.

This visit has been a fantastic addition to our current topic of Transport and will greatly enrich play in our garage role-play corner. The children are already inspired to take on the role of mechanics themselves—fixing, building, and exploring with growing confidence and imagination.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to Mr Orr for giving his time and sharing his expertise.

Experiences like this help bring learning to life and create lasting memories for our pupils!
