Sensory space opening
It was a real pleasure to welcome some very special guests to school today: Duane, representing The Honourable The Irish Society; Brenda, representing The Halifax Foundation; and Keith and Kyle from our Family and Friends Association, as we celebrated the official opening of our new sensory space.
This was a significant and proud moment for our school community, marking the completion of a project that simply would not have been possible without the generosity and support of our funders. The total cost of the project was £8,236, with £2,000 kindly provided by The Honourable The Irish Society and £6,236 funded by The Halifax Foundation. We are extremely grateful for their commitment to supporting our pupils.
The newly opened sensory space is already proving to be a valuable addition to our school. Designed to provide a calm, safe and nurturing environment, it will support pupils in regulating their emotions, improving focus, and developing important communication and social skills. Such spaces are known to reduce stress, encourage positive interaction and enhance overall wellbeing.
For our rural school, where access to specialist facilities can be limited, this provision represents a truly meaningful investment in our children. It ensures that every pupil, regardless of their individual needs, has access to the support they require and feels included and valued as part of our school community.
The event itself was a wonderful opportunity to come together, recognise the impact of partnership working, and celebrate what has been achieved. We were delighted to have Duane and Brenda officially open the sensory space today.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to making this project a reality and to those who joined us to mark the occasion. The positive impact of this space will be felt by our pupils for many years to come.
