P5/6 LEGO Project

P5/6 were extremely lucky in term 1 as they got to participate in an amazing LEGO project with Strabane Academy.

Over 4 different Thursdays the class were invited into Strabane Academy’s new digital hub.
With the guidance and help of Mr Breen and his ICT technician, Caragh, the class were set a weekly challenge. The project allowed every child to problem solve and improve their communication skills, as well the opportunity to use and explore with cutting edge LEGO kits.

Every week, the class learned something new and had fun doing it. From creating a taxi, to programming a moveable Christmas Tree, there was a wide variety of challenges and many opportunities to be creative and learn from others. The teamwork and communication skills of the class also improved week by week.

Donemana PS would like to say a sincere thank you to Mr Breen, Caragh and Strabane Academy for inviting us to participate in the project as well covering our transport costs each week. Being a rural school, transport costs can be a difficult financial burden for our school, so we are extremely grateful for their generosity.

P5/6 were tremendous throughout the programme and displayed amazing behaviour whilst visiting the school and interacting with others.
