Outdoor Learning

4th Nov 2021

Thursday 4th November is OUTDOOR LEARNING day so P2/3 dressed warmly and headed out to face the elements!  Thankfully we were in luck weather wise and were able to get our Mental Maths, Numeracy and Story Time completed in the dry.  Our Literacy started well but sadly we had to admit defeat and head indoors a few minutes early before we all got soaked.

Lots of fun was had and the children really enjoyed learning outdoors.  You can see what we were at below and hear the children's views on Outdoor Learning.

Mental Maths:  Duck, Duck, Goose game, counting in fives from 5-50.

Numeracy: Paired work on counting in fives using chalk to record their answers.

Story Time: The story of 'Snowhite' was read during snack time in the outdoor classroom including a quiz on rhyming words.

Literacy: Sound work on ai, oa, ie, ee and or game.  Children had to listen carefully to the word, identify the sound and run to that section of the playground.

Literacy Group Work: Each team had 2 minutes to sound out and write as many words as possible for each sound page they came to.
