To add to all the wonderful work we’ve been doing on following instructions, our P1 class rolled up their sleeves yesterday and became real-life pancake chefs for Shrove Tuesday!
The children carefully sequenced each step—mixing, pouring, flipping, and topping—putting all their instruction-writing skills into action. As they worked, they used important language like first, next, then and finally, helping to strengthen their understanding of order and process.
There were so many rich learning moments: weighing ingredients, exploring new vocabulary, taking turns, and talking about traditions linked to Shrove Tuesday. And of course… enjoying the most delicious reward at the end!
It was a fun, hands-on way to bring our learning to life—warm pancakes, warm smiles, and lots of proud P1 learners.
