Lucy from Cancer Focus NI visited DPS last week and spoke to P5/6 about 'smoking'.
We discussed: second hand smoke, tobacco, nicotine, addiction, the chemicals used in cigarette production and lastly, the cost.
We were completely gobsmacked to learn that the average cost of a packet of cigarettes is £10.40!!!
We calculated how much a 'one packet a day' smoker would spend in a week, a month and over a whole year, the figures were startling.
Lucy, the representative from Cancer Focus, spoke wonderfully and provided us with a colourful slideshow. Thank you for your visit.
As always, the P5/6 children behaved impeccably and asked lots of questions. :)
