Happy birthday DPS with Janine

23rd May 2025
We are continuing our celebrations for Donemana Primary School's 60th birthday by sharing the story of another one of our past pupils.  David in P7 interviewed his Auntie Janine and this is what he discovered.

My name is Janine Hay and the teachers I remember were Mrs Christy, Mrs Gamble and Mr McNally.  I was friendly with Joanne Boyd at school but I don’t see her that often now.  I loved my school dinners and I remember my cook was Mrs. Davis. She made the best strawberry custard.  I went on at least one trip a school year and we always went to the Christmas pantomime.  That was all organised by the PTA.  There are lots of differences since I was at DPS.  When I was there, there was a tuck shop and crisps only cost 5p!  There was no ICT suite either.  My favourite memory from Donemana Primary School was the Halloween party and the Halloween fireworks that were both amazing.  When I left Donemana Primary School I went to Strabane Academy for 5 years.  I am now a travel agent, running my own business and seeing the world!  I love my job and I love helping my customers have the most amazing travel experiences.
