Classes Mrs Crosbie
Well, another year has zoomed by.Today we created, 'Feel Good Charts.' Each class member had to write something positive about their class mate.
We thought the chart would make us feel good after finishing school!!
Have a look at the comical comments...
We have also been racing against the clock to complete art projects. We are delighted with our bowls!
Have a look at our other projects... jugs, vases and bowls!
Happy summer holidays from everyone in P.6! Yipee!!
P.6 had an enjoyable day sampling what life may have been like for a Celt! We dressed up..
. We were revisiting alliteration in our Literacy and went on to write Celtic poetry using alliteration to bring it to LIFE!! Have a look...
We then sampled some bread that the Celts would have eaten. Food was very important to the Celts! They enjoyed lots of eating and drinking.
Art was essential to the Celts and was to our class too!
The Celts were skilled at many different arts and crafts. Are we?
We really enjoyed our day. Thank you.
We would just like to wish you all a Happy Easter from Primary 6! We thought our Easter art work would get you all EGGcited!
World Book Week was a great success with lots of 'NOVEL' ideas! Children dressed up as their favourite character. Parents, teachers and children all worked very hard to bring books to life!!
Let's look at those P.6 characters!
P.3 winners...
P.2 characters... Who have we got here?
We enjoyed lots of creative talking, listening, reading and writing during this week!
BOOKS ARE GREAT!!
Things are beginning to get more like Christmas in Primary 6 this week. The children have been completing some festive art work. We thought you would be delighted to have a look and see our colourful pieces. We hope they will make you feel a little more in the FESTIVE WAY!
We were making snow flakes! We think our flurry of snow flakes is very effective...
They will have to do until the real snow arrives??
They linked into our Numeracy work on rotational symmetry too!
Then we decorated our Christmas tree- lovely!
We also made Christmas tree pictures and put our wishes into the pot...
Lets look at some up close.
We wish you a healthy and happy Christmas.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Hello again!
As promised, we now have pictures to share of our electrical quiz games. We have enjoyed playing and sharing them with the other kids.
If our answers were correct, the bulb would light up...Well done! Charlene knows alot about 'Big Words!'
Ross knows a thing or two about weather facts! Here we have a snap of all our electrical quiz games...
Andrew and Ben enjoy the challenge of a good sports game!
Having completed our electricity topic we displayed our knowledge and understanding through use of a mind map. This shows us the 'big picture'. We worked in pairs. These 2 boys have certainly gained alot form our topic this term!
WOW! Lots of facts relating to electricity!
This is our completed mind map. Mrs Crosbie covered it up when we were drawing our own maps.
Mrs Crosbie's class have been studting 'electricity' as their Science topic this term. They have been creating circuits in their lessons and fiddling around with them to see what will happen!
We began our investigations by virtually creating circuits on our interactive white board.
Next we worked in pairs and created circuits ourselves. Chelsea enjoyed the challenge of an interesting necklace!
"558-Will-it-work-or-not??-r" We had to record if different circuits would work or not.
We enjoyed making switches from paper clips and clothes pegs! "560-Clothes-pegs!!",
We enjoyed changing our circuits about and finding out what would happen if we used thicker and thinner wires...
What happens the brightness of the bulb with 2 batteries?
How much can this bulb take???
,
We have been making electricity games also, so watch this space!
We hope you enjoyed viewing our snaps from our last item where we were studing those plants up close and personal!! Since then we have been working hard gaining knowledge about pollination, fertilisation and life cycles.
,
Today Mrs Crosbie covered the BIG mind map in class and we had to think carefully about all the lessons we had relating to plants. We worked with a partner and felt that, 'two heads were better than one' and this is what we created. It certainly proves something very simple: These mind maps certainly help us LEARN!!!
There is alot of knowledge, skills and understanding in here. Didn't we do well!!
So, that's all the items we have to report on this academic year. We hope you enjoyed a tiny tiny snap shot into the life of primary 5/6 at Donemana Primary School. Thanks for looking and have a lovely summer!
Mrs Crosbie and the gang!!
Mrs Crosbie's class have been studying 'Plants' as part of their Science topic this term. We thought it would be great to show you some snaps of us being active in our learning. We certainly have gained a lot of new information in this topic and we look forward to sharing it with you at the end of term... Watch this space for the tour of the mind map!!
We had superb fun physically sticking the names of the female and males parts to each other!
, One female and lots of men... It certainly is like this in nature too!!
Can you see it too? Next time you are out for a walk, observe the parts of the flower and see what you can see!
We were learning the function of each part of the plant too!
I wonder why it is sticky... Do you remember??
, We have been creating similar art work as our friends in Lithuania! It certainly is very VIVID!!
We decided to brighten up the front door. What do you think!
,
We will return with more examples of our work and a tour of that mind map when we have finished our topic. Keep tuned in. Thanks for looking!!
Primary 5/6 have enjoyed experimenting with line and colour to create vivid 2 dimensional pictures. We were very pleased with how visual our master pieces turned out and thought that a gold photo frame would look good around the pictures!
Let us know what you think! All prospective buyers are very welcome and bidding for each original will start at £100.00!!!
Our class were set the challenge of 'solving the dissolving' mystery! They were experimenting with various everyday substances.
In our groups we thought about how we would do this... We had to ensure fair testing throughout! This group decided upon adding 100ml of water to each beaker.
It was very important that the same amounts of water were added to each beaker!
, Adding the instant coffee, bath crystals, washing powder, common salt, sugar, sand and much more!!Keep fair testing!
After all that practical work, it's time to start writing up our procedures!
, Have a look at our mind map. It shows you the ,'BIG PICTURE' of where our topic has taken us! We have almost finished our materials topic and we have gained ALOT of knowledge and understanding!
Children were having a CRACKING time this Easter preparing their EGG...CITING master pieces for the school competition.
They were required to bring their hard boiled(!) egg to school along with some EGG...CELLENT ideas for their entry.
Things started to get rather messy at times...
Children were allowed to make full use of all arts and crafts resources within the classroom! It was all a great bit of 'CRAIC!'

Primary 5 and 6 have been busy studying the novel, 'James And The Giant Peach.' It was our focus for World Book Week. We have enjoyed creating play scripts, plot profiles, news paper reports, senses poems and much more...
Have a look at our board and see what you think!
Mrs Crosbie's class have been combining the old with the new in creating powerpoints based on the theme of the Titanic. The children have been working in pairs to create their slideshows, with the winners of this particular project judged to be Ross Black and Rebecca Garfield. Hopefully you will be able to see their display by clicking the link below:(Hopefully because it's our first time trying this!)
