Classes Miss Caldwell
Primary One and Primary Two have been doing lots of work this term based on the topic of pirates. One of the tasks they had was to try to make pirate boats that would float.
They have been having great fun and enjoyed ending their topic with a Pirate Party day today! Everyone, including Miss Caldwell and Jayne, came to school dressed as Pirates.
The children all made lots of Pirate props, including, hats, eye-patches, telescopes, earrings and parrot pictures with some P7 help.
It was a fun day!
Primary One and Two had great fun during their very busy Easter themed day today.
They were learning about melting when making these yummy Easter nests.
They also worked hard to make these great bunny boxes to take their Easter nests home in.
They made Easter bunny ears too and to finish it all off the children were turned into bright Easter bunnies! Have a look at how they turned out!
During World Book Week Primary One and Two were working on the story called 'Mrs Honey's Hat'. They really enjoyed the story and had a lovely time using the storysack activities. They made Mrs Honey's Hats and Mrs Honey dolls.
Primary Two made their own Mrs Honey books.
Look at the display of all our work.
Primary One and Two had an exciting visitor to school last week. Sarah S's Mum brought in a little baby lamb for us to see.
Some of the children were able to pet the lamb.
It was quite noisey and went for a walk around our classroom!
We were also thinking about our 'sh' sound last week and made some sheep pictures.
Primary One and Primary Two have been learning all about the topic of toys. They brought in their favourite toys for show and tell and Miss Caldwell brought in some of the toys she had when she was little. She brought in strange things like a typewriter and a huge gameboy! The children had lots of fun playing in the toy shop and making a puppet theatre during structured play.
Primary Two were very busy writing reports about toys and all the children were thinking about how teddy bears have changed over time. Look closely at our notice board and see!
In P1 and P2 we are learning about weather. It was very windy on Thursday so we went outside to find out what we could see, hear and feel about the wind. We saw the trees moving.
We stood very still and felt the wind blowing against our faces and we heard the rustle of the leaves. When we came inside we made our own blowy pictures.
In P1 and P2 we have been learning all about autumn time. We read a big book and then went outside to see what signs of autumn we could find around the school. We found conkers
and lots of coloured leaves.
We used the leaves to help make our autumn tree house
It is getting colder at autumn time so we wrap up warmly to play in the tree house.
It's a great place to enjoy a picnic too!
It's great fun!
P1 and P2 have been learning all about colours.
They have been, making colour bubble pictures, sorting out lots of coloured objects and have had days where they came to school wearing coloured clothes.
They have been using lots of coloured soaps to practise colour names and thinking about the colour of their eyes. They made this giant bar chart!
P1 and P2 had an exciting morning of visitors on Tuesday! Sarah's Mum kindly brought in some lovely 9 day old chicks for us to see.
Some of our very brave P1 and P2 children held the soft and fluffy chicks.
The chicks didn't seem to mind being held but one wanted to get away!
Miss Caldwell's Class were having a blue day in school today.......but one rather large child either got the day wrong-or wasn't happy at the thought of wearing blue!
Maybe it was the sight of the Chelsea shirts that drove him to it! Getting rid of one Chelsea mad Mr Gamble (or is that just 'mad'!) has seen another appear!
P1 and P2 have been taking advantage of the good weather by enjoying some outdoor play. They use this board to choose where they are going to play and then off they go!
There have been lots of activities to choose from including chalk drawing on the playground, building with giant blocks and playing on space hoppers (a definite favourite!).
Hopefully the lovely weather will stay so they can enjoy more outdoor play.
On Thursday we had a teddy bear's picnic.
We all brought our teddy bears to school, even Miss Caldwell brought hers!
We had lots and lots of different types of fruit for our picnic. We ate it all up!
We made party hats and wrote invitations so all the teddys would remember to come. We had great fun!
During our structured play time we had something new at the art table. We had pots and containers full of lots of different things. We had shells and feathers, pasta and sand, leaves and ribbons. We used all these things to make amazing pictures. It is temporary art. It is called this because you don't stick anything down. When you have finished your picture you put everything back into the pots and containers but because we liked our pictures so much we wanted them to keep them and so we took pictures of them!
Look and see!
