Dear Parent,
We are delighted you are showing interest in our Primary School. I hope you find the web site helpful and informative, and begins to give you a feeling for the warmth and dedication we endeavour to provide.
We are situated on the outskirts of the village, but hope we are a central part of the community. We strive to develop the potential of the children in our care and encourage them to be thoughtful and respectful to others, and concerned with the welfare of those and the community around them.
The school has been on its present site for many years now, the most recent addition being the erection of a mobile classroom, much more modern and accommodating than many of the stereotypes of such rooms! We have an assembly hall used for a variety of purposes, from Physical Education to assemblies, concerts and other functions both for the school and the community.
Our first priority is the children entrusted into our care. We have a conscientious and dedicated team of staff comprising, a teaching principal, four teachers, classroom assistants, a secretary, teams of dinner ladies, cleaners and bus drivers, who value the children and strive to make their experience here an enjoyable one.
We greatly value the well-being of the children, and their health and well being is promoted every day in school. They are positively encouraged to eat healthily, and as well as the regular Physical Education programme, the children have the opportunities to experience sports coaching in activities such as cricket, football, rugby, swimming, rounders and netball.
In developing links with parents and the community we produce a weekly newsletter to help keep interested parties in touch with developments in the school. We have benefited greatly from the efforts of an active and enthusiastic P.T.A. whose events are enjoyed greatly by many in the wider community. Parents are welcomed to discuss with teachers any concerns they may have, and this new year sees the introduction of home/school liaison mornings which we hope will be a success. Our Board of Governors are very concerned with the well being of the children in our care and take their responsibilities seriously and professionally.
Throughout the year the children are presented with a host of opportunities with visits to the school from different groups such as theatre companies and musical organisations, and indeed trips as groups and part of E.M.U. groups with our partner school Greenhaw P.S. In the past we have visited such places as the Share Centre, the Ulster History Park and various farm and library visits. Such visits make a great contribution to the children’s learning opportunities. We set standards of the children, their efforts and their behaviour, and we take every care to develop their responsibilities as citizens of the future.
We hope you have a long and enjoyable association with the school, and appreciate the care and enjoyment that your children will experience.
