Admissions Criteria

ADMISSIONS CRITERIA – YEAR 1
The Board of Governors of Donemana Controlled Primary School has determined that the following criteria shall be applied, in the event of pupils for places in Year 1 being greater than the admissions number, in the order set down below. Priority will be given in the application of each criterion to children of compulsory school age regarded by the Board of Governors, on the
basis of written or other evidence supplied by the parents and statutory or other agencies, as having special circumstances, i.e. medical, social or security reasons.

1. Children of compulsory school age who have brothers/sisters (half-brothers/sisters) presently enrolled at the school.
2. Children of compulsory school age transferring from Donemana Community Playgroup. Other children of compulsory school age.

If there is over-subscription in the last criterion that can be applied then selection will be made on the basis of distance of the home from the school (closest first).

RECEPTION ADMISSION CRITERIA
The Board of Governors of Donemana Controlled Primary School has determined that, providing there is sufficient accommodation and that the class size does not exceed 25, children under compulsory school age can be admitted on their 4th birthday in September, October and November thereafter on the first day of the term following their 4th birthday. In the event of the number of pupils applying for places being greater that the number of places, the criteria for Year 1 will apply.

YEAR 1 ADMISSIONS - AFTER THE BEGINNING OF THE SCHOOL YEAR
Children who apply to enter the school during the academic year will be considered using the same criteria as for Year 1.

ADMISSION CRITERA – YEAR 2 –7
The following criteria will be applied, in the order set down below to all pupils seeking admission to Years 2 to 7. However, the school shall not cause or admit the number registered pupils to exceed the school’s enrolment number as determined by the Department of Education nor admit pupils where admission would, in the opinion of the Board of Governors, prejudice the efficient use of the school’s resources.

Priority will be given to children who are residents of Northern Ireland. If there are more applicants applying for the available places then the Criteria for Year 1 will be applied.
